What is moof?My tool of choice falls under the Music category and is called Moof (music online, on-demand, for free). It is an online music player. This particular player allows you to search any artist and any song and play it as you wish. Moof also allow its users to join for free and save the music to their own personal library in which they may access at any time to listen to songs. Moof refers to this service as a free on-demand media player that also enables you to upload your own personal music from your iTunes library as a way to backup your own music files as well as have access to them through Moof.
What age and grade does moof serve?Moof can be helpful in a VAPA (Visual and Performing Arts) program at an elementary grade level of K-5. Moof can be used in these classrooms as a fast, easy way to access videos and music that will assist in practicing and putting on plays, shows, performances, as well as serve as a great base of reference for samples and studying measures. It can provide a quick reference for a teacher to provide examples or showcase certain styles to students.
How would moof be used?Just as actors study previous movies and legendary actors before them for upcoming roles, students may use Moof to access different styles and version of music and video to aid them in gearing up for their upcoming play, show, or performance. They can reference it as a guide to diversity and possibilities and possibly bring their own character the classroom by way of expanding their musical horizons through this music tool.
What can be done with moof?Personally, I searched this website to make sure that any artist could be accessed and the music of choice could be saved to the library. Moof also provides videos and live versions which can be very useful in teaching older grades in Performing Arts programs how to change and maneuver pieces of art without taking away from the actual art itself.
Considerations when using moof? Some considerations when using this tool would be to sample the pieces you will use prior to playing them for the class as some may be explicit versions or incorrect version provided by another user instead of the actual artist of the piece. Moof would be fully accessible to anyone with internet and computer capabilities; there are no other requirements aside from joining the site (for free). It is absolutely practical for schools to use this tool, almost necessary for performing arts programs, in my opinion. If I was teaching in a VAPA program or just a music course, I would fully implement this tool into my classroom and curriculum.
Recommendations:This is absolutely a tool I would use or recommend for my classroom or a fellow colleague’s classroom use. I believe that this would be highly beneficial not just in a VAPA program, but most especially in such a program because it is a way to access all music at any time for the benefit of the lesson. It can be frustrating to sift through CD’s looking for a song needed to provide a lesson when over time CD’s become damaged and CD players do not always cooperate. An online music media player that allows for one to search and play music and videos on-demand is a priceless tool for an Music or Arts program.

This tool sounds like it would be very fun to use in the classroom. Since you can save songs and get back to them later, I think it would also be useful for teachers to save a list of songs that they have already listened to and that they know are clean. Then they could play these songs for the students as background music when reading, such as in SSR or DEAR reading time for middle and high school students,
